The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL) holds her Town Hall Meeting today, the 28th day of February 2022 at the Lagos Mariot Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. The theme of the meeting, “The Justiciability of Chapter Two of the 1999 Constitution: Pragmatic measures for Government’s Accountability” is apt as the current times speaks, now more than ever, to the need to hold the Government accountable to the citizenry.
The ideals as contained in Chapter Two of the Constitution, would only make meaning to the citizens if there were justiciable. I, therefore, thank the NBA and SPIDEL for convoking this discussion and urge Government and all stakeholders to consider with seriousness the deliberations at this town hall meeting and strive to ensure that the resolutions reached thereat are implemented, so that once and for all, the issue of the justiciability of Chapter Two of the Constitution will be laid to rest.
I welcome all members of the Bar, delegates and speakers to this Town Hall Meeting.
Long live the NBA!
Long live SPIDEL!!!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
