Elon Musk, billionaire businessman, has offered his SpeceX Starlink services to Ukrainians. The Ukrainian government had asked Tesla founder Elon Musk for help with internet access as Russia continued to pound the country in an invasion that has sparked international condemnation. Elon Musk quickly responded, stating that his Starlink service is now available in Ukraine, with additional terminals on the way.
The Vice Prime Minister had tweeted: “@elonmusk, while you try to colonize Mars – Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space – Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink Satellite stations and to address sane Russians to stand.”
The country highlighted the tweet, saying, “Dear @elonmusk, Ukraine needs your support. Your stance and your actions matter. An appeal by our Minister of Digital Transformation here.”
Elon Musk wasted no time in responding: “Starlink service is now active in Ukraine,” he stated. “More terminals en route.” Fedorov then tweeted back: “Starlink terminals are coming to Ukraine! Thank you @elonmusk, thank you everyone, who supported Ukraine!” The Ukrainian government also tweeted: “Thanx, appreciate it.”
Starlink is a global provider of high-speed, low-latency broadband internet. Orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis within each coverage area. Starlink uses advanced satellites in low orbit to enable video calls, online gaming, streaming, and other high-bandwidth activities that have previously been impossible with satellite internet. Starlink is ideal for areas where connectivity has been spotty or non-existent. Starlink is used by people all over the world to get access to education, health care, and even communications support during natural disasters.
